"In 2011, St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Elgin voted to undertake a Capital Campaign. It was a necessary step to lay hold of our long term vision of a new church on the Westside of Elgin. Last year we completed year five (5) of our five (5) year Capital Campaign. I’m reminded that many in our congregation, like me, were skeptical that an aging congregation of our size could raise much more than $100,000. But in 2011, we raised $835,660 in pledges with Havey & Associates, Inc.’s assistance. With no additional funds, we will close 2017 with a mortgage balance of roughly $6,000. I’d like to put that $6,000 into perspective.
